There are 4 common topics of study in The Core (see below) for both Standard and Higher Level students. Some topics include a Higher Level extension (these will be clearly indicated).

Students are not required to have any prior experience of Computer Science to be successful here.

However, students who embrace the following IB Learner Profile descriptors maximise their chance for success:

1. inquirer - seek out new knowledge (don't oervly-depend on your teacher)
2. thinker - be persistent and resilient in your thinking and problem-solving. Never give up!
3. communicator - be part of the problem-solving community in class and share your ideas with your classmates
