Web Design

Your team will choose one of the project ideas below. The main project concept is that we are using our web design skills for a purpose. We will try to create something inspiring!

The Project Period will allow you to use your skills creatively and overcome design problems by exploring Web Design.

Don't expect all of your dreams to come true given the time available. Expect to use the time available wisely.

To achieve an A in your chosen project:

  1. each member of the team will take responsibility for the design of at least 1 of the pages in your website.
  2. each member of the team will take responsibility for designing content for any of the pages in the website.
  3. you are not allowed to use images that have a restricted Creative Commons licence. pixabay.com is a good place to get restriction-free images. You can research other sources and take your won images, too.
  4. extra credit will be given to content that has been developed by you eg video production, Photoshop work, Illustrator work, digital sound composition etc
  5. the website must be original. Copying an existing website's idea means your website will most likely be ignored.
  6. the website must have a responsive design - use Bootstrap's Grid System.

Organistional requirements

Create a shared online folder, giving access to your teammates and your teacher. All of your work, including the original copies of any images used and a document stating the origin of any images used, must be stored here. At the end of the project you will upload this folder to your online storage.

Project idea 1 - local business

Create a website promoting a local business. You will get extra respect for designing a website for a real local business that simply cannot afford to pay for a website.

Project idea 2 - Rock Band

Each member of your team is a member of a rock band - or any other kind of band eg traditional music band. Create a website to promote yourselves. You will need to get some instruments and create images of you performing, possibly infront of huge audiences!

Project idea 3 - Vote for Me!

One (or more) members of your team is going to run for president of your school. Create a website promoting the candidate(s).

Project idea 4 - Awareness

Is there an issue (local/national/global) that you and your team members feel passionate about? You are not satisfied with information relating to this currently on the web. Create a website that raises awareness about the issue.

Stay Organised - Team Folder

- create a shared project folder to store all of your team's web page files in. Create an images subfolder for your images. You may want to create other subfolders as necessary.

Stay Organised - Personal Folder

- create your own shared folder to store all of your files in. This must include all of your html/css work and any content development project files eg a Photoshop file, Illustrator file, iMovie file etc.
